A special exploration of Five Baneful Plant Spirits – Mandrake, Datura, Belladonna, Henbane and Foxglove culminating in the ritual of dark green wisdom and the ancestors of Witches. Guided by the inner contacts of the Mighty Dead, we shall explore a different plant in herbalism, folklore and plant spirit medicine, following up the discussion with a visionary journey to encounter the plant spirit as teacher and initiator. They are teachers, healers and openers to different levels of consciousness and mystery. The sixth and final class ends with the Rite of the Green Devil, an exploration of the dark side of nature and the shadow of the more familiar Green Man. Through the blessings of the dead and aid from the green world, we unlock the seven gates of the underworld and seek to redeem ourselves and the world through our return to the Garden of the Gods. The Green Devil is seen as gatekeeper to our sense of disconnection from our bodies, ourselves, each other and nature, and this encounter can help free us from a society that subscribes to the concept of sin and separation. Through our herbal allies, renounce the first sin, seek redemption in the Green God’s embrace and discover for yourself the Emerald Heart of the Earth. Not for beginners but those with a basic understanding of magick, plants, visionary ritual and the shadow.
