In many ancient cultures the labyrinth was seen as a gateway or portal through which we can ritually experience death and rebirth. As we prepare to move into the dark time of the year, we too must prepare to face our own darkness and find the wisdom hidden there. Descent into darkness is an archetypal theme in many Goddess mythologies, like Inanna moving through the seven gates of the underworld or Kore descending to Hades to become Queen of Darkness.
